National Ballet of Russia “Kostroma” presents unprecedented in its scale folk programme that doesn’t have any analogues in Russia as far as artistic production and staging mastery are concerned – “National Russian Show”. During almost 2 hours you will become the witness of the grandiose combination of music, drama and dance, luxurious sets and costumes, video-projection and laser animation. This is a unique folk show that embraces hi-fi special effects, the show every item of which is distinguished with unique choreographic language, the show that unites the Russian folk dance with its modern stylizations. The programme was implemented into life thanks to the effort of the group of the professionals that are quick on the uptake. The music to the show was composed by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and a holder of the Friendship order, a well-know folk music composer Vladimir Kornev who has been in collaboration with the ballet “Kostroma” for more than 10 years. All the music was recorded with the help of the National Academic Orchestra of the Folk Instruments named after Osipov under direction of Nikolai Kalinin.
The programme strikes with its truly Russian scale: 50-odd dancers are employed in the show, more than 200 unique costumes decorated with pearls, silver and beads have been specifically designed for every item of the programme. Most of the costumes’ elements are identical to those of folk dress of the northern regions of Russia. All the costumes and props are made by “Lena-Line” and studios of the theatre of Mossovet.
The sets for the show are hand-made embroidery, which change throughout the performance.
The show is unique, first of all, due to the natural synthes of live fragments of Russian culture and modern equipment. The project widely employs the most up-to-date videoprojectors, laser animation devices and other effects. Any show of the ballet “Kostroma” can be called a “blockbuster” in the meaning of the global project which absorbed a lot of creative, material and technical means; it is able to astonish you with its originality and the beauty of the idea, virtuosity of the performance, professional attitude and attention to the details that might change spoiled and blunted perception of the modern person to the traditional culture.
The premier of the National Russian Show will take place in May 2005 on the stage of the concert hall of the hotel “Cosmos”. Shows will be given daily during the entire summer season. Atthemomentitisplannedtogive 120 concerts.
Every detail of the global epic “canvas” of the National Russian Show is the masterpiece of the art and looks like highly-technical special effect. The show consists of 2 parts each of which is 45 minutes long. There will be a bar open during the break between the acts of the show (if it is included in the package). You are able to buy exclusive souvenir production of the Ballet in the foyer: DVDs and VHS with the show programmes of the ballet, booklets, key holder etc with the ballet’s logos.
